  You make a good point. However, the greatest JW source in the U.S. is the immigrant population. South Dakota is definitely not a state with a big immigrant population. So the average that you are using is quite likely not representative of South Dakota. The "white" population of South Dakota is far less likely to be a JW than, let's say, the heavily immigrant population of los Angeles.

  The Latino population, for example, brings far more publishers to the watchtower than just about any other group. The Latino population in SD is only 3%. I guess SD didn't enjoy the big surge of Latino publishers that I witnessed in recent decades. Therefore it is fair to infer that ratio of JW to population in SD should be lower than the U.S. average

  Why "Most high"?

  if there were only one god, why do we encounter the expression, "most high god"?.

  is this not indicative of polytheism, and of levels (or degrees) of god-ness?.

  The "most high" is a subtle reference that identifies not the deity, but the worshippers as a group. They are the "most high"

  as it's highly unlikely i'll ever go to warwick, i found lloyd evans latest video fascinating.

  i had no idea that the whole 'museum' (if you can call it that) was so big.

  Lloyd's ego? making money? who cares. He has hurt the Watchtower far more than those complaining about him. And he has done it at a great deal of cost of his time and resources. Why shouldn't he get some pay and the opportunity to boost his self esteem?

  I am with Slim, there's an exJW behind the article. However, the general idea stands; the religion is shrinking. Also the general information about JW's is true. Regarding the details referring to South Dakota's numbers.... who knows about the accuracy.... it's of little relevance anyways.

  The part that makes no sense is tearing down the old kingdom hall and building a smaller one. What's the point of that. Just stay in the same old building and save the cost of tearing down and rebuilding.

  Agree, 330 is too small, but over 3,000 is too high. My bet is somewhere between 1K and 2K.

  Not a fan of this guy, but I just wonder if the quality (professional skills) of the people who will replace the Matt Lauers and Charlie Roses will be better or worse.

  The irony! The groper who definitely can be replaced by someone better is immune to attacks or firing. Interesting times we live in!

  You are just a kid! Be glad you live in the best times. Regardless of what you see in the tabloid news and what apocalyptic religions tell you , these are the best times based on statistical evidence: overall best standard of living, knowledge, human rights, access to health services, access to education, safety. The world is not perfect, but a heck of a lot better.

  i'm a happily married woman (no kids) who is a non-jw, presbyterian to be precise.

  From your last post, it seems that there is hope, but he has to come to ackowledge that he is in a harmful cult. That may turn out to be a long process, judging from the countless experiences I have read in the last four years. Learning those experiences may be your first step before taking any action. Learn from others who had to wake up their spouses. You will find many of those experiences here. Learning about the Australian Royal Commission hearings and documents about JW's is another important step. JWfacts.com is good too. Crisis of Conscience is another great help, etc, etc,etc,etc......

  Has anyone posted the video where Geoffrey Jackson made a reference to Christmas before the Royal Commission??. Your husband should watch it. I hope he does, and then continues watching everything else that took place in those hearings.
